Campi Flegrei residents march in Rome demanding emergency decree
Over 700 residents, displaced persons, and local mayors from the Campi Flegrei area marched in Rome to demand urgent government intervention regarding the ongoing bradyseism emergency. The protesters, traveling from municipalities including Pozzuoli, Bacoli, Quarto, and Monte di Procida, held a demonstration from the Colosseum to Piazza Santi Apostoli.
The delegation sought concrete solutions for those displaced by seismic activity, specifically requesting the requisition of houses and hotels to provide housing. Mayors Luigi Manzoni of Pozzuoli and Josi Gerardo Della Ragione of Bacoli emphasized that the situation is a national issue requiring significant resources for structural safety, public buildings, and school stability.
Following negotiations with a delegation representing the territory, a meeting was held with the Chief of Staff for the Minister for Civil Protection, Nello Musumeci. A document containing local proposals was delivered to the government. Officials indicated that a new decree addressing the Campi Flegrei emergency is expected to be issued within ten days.
