A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck the Campi Flegrei area, with its epicentre in Pozzuoli, on 31 July – the strongest tremor recorded there in four decades. The INGV Vesuviano Observatory declared the subsequent seismic swarm concluded on 3 August.

The quake rendered ten buildings and seven commercial premises unsafe, prompting the evacuation of 144 families, roughly 350 residents. Emergency services carried out 86 structural inspections, with another 130 inspections scheduled, while the fire brigade continued rescue and safety operations.

The Region of Campania has earmarked €1 million for autonomous accommodation for the displaced, and the national government has pledged an additional €550 million for emergency response and infrastructure repairs. The Naples public prosecutor has opened an exploratory investigation into the safety of the volcanic ridges (costoni), noting that no crimes have been alleged and that allocated funds for their reinforcement remain unused.
