Brazil electoral courts advance 2026 election preparations
Brazil is advancing preparations for the 2026 elections through various regional judicial and administrative actions. In Paraíba, the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-PB) has begun the public ceremony for generating media for over 10,700 electronic voting machines. This process involves recording memory cards with candidate data and biometric information, ensuring machines remain isolated from the internet for security.
Simultaneously, electoral courts in Alagoas and Paraná are managing candidate registrations. The TRE-PR has judged nearly 98% of registration requests, while the TRE-AL has commenced media preparation following the conclusion of candidate analysis. The Public Electoral Ministry (MP Eleitoral) has also been active, contesting 55 candidacy registrations in Paraíba due to legal non-compliance or potential links to criminal factions.
In separate administrative news, several municipalities are managing public service exams. The City of Campos has summoned 331 education professionals, including teachers and pedagogues. In Campina Grande, a court decision has mandated the reopening of registration for all candidates and positions in a major public contest, leading to the postponement of exams. Meanwhile, Petrolina is proceeding with the placement of 173 newly summoned education professionals.
