Campina Grande public exam schedule changed due to racial quota ruling

The public examination process in Campina Grande, Brazil, will undergo significant changes following a judicial ruling. The decision, stemming from a civil public action filed by the Public Ministry of Paraíba, mandates a 10% reservation of general vacancies for Black candidates across all positions.

As a result of this ruling, the examination schedule will be postponed, and the original notice (Edital nº 01/2026) must be rectified to include specific rules for quotas, classification, and heteroidentification procedures. The registration period will be reopened for at least ten days, but exclusively for candidates wishing to compete for the reserved vacancies. Candidates already registered may also opt for the quota modality through the electronic system without additional fees.

The exam, organized by IDECAN, offers 925 vacancies for various education levels and currently has over 80,000 registered candidates. Although the municipality appealed, the Court of Justice of Paraíba upheld the preliminary injunction.
