Campinas hosts Cuban Festival marking Fidel Castro centennial
The MIS Campinas in Brazil is hosting the ‘Festival Cubano – 100 Anos de Fidel’, a free event commemorating the centennial of Fidel Castro's birth. The program includes cinema, music, dance, and debates regarding the current situation in Cuba and the impact of economic embargoes.
Key activities include film screenings such as ‘68/98 – Comportamento e Política Estudantil’ and ‘Memórias Cubanas – Um Dia com Fidel’, alongside discussions on the legacy of the Cuban Revolution. Participants include political leaders and Ana Corbisier, a former militant who lived in Cuba during the guerrilla period.
The festival, organized by groups including Coletivo José Martí and Bloco Carnavalesco Vai Pra Cuba, also features a solidarity initiative to collect valid medications for shipment to the Cuban people.
