Campinas schools start multivaccination drive; Portugal opens first private-run health unit

A multivaccination campaign began on 4 August in Campinas, Brazil, with the EMEF/EJA Padre Leão Vallerie school receiving the first doses. The program, coordinated by Chaúla Vizelli of the Campinas Immunization Program, aims to update vaccination records for children and adolescents up to 14 years old and focuses on measles, where the city has had no cases since 2021.

In Portugal, the first privately managed Family Health Unit (USF Modelo C) started operations on 3 August in the São Pedro da Cadeira health centre of Torres Vedras. Managed by KnokHealth Portugal, the unit will serve 5,463 residents without a family doctor, under a five‑year contract worth about €2.4 million, to improve primary‑care access in the region.
