Campo Grande expands planted forest area by 115%
Campo Grande has seen a 115.4% increase in planted forest area between 2023 and 2025, growing from 29,911 to 64,430 hectares. According to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), this expansion increases the city's share of Mato Grosso do Sul's silviculture area to 3.39%, up from 2.19% in 2023.
This growth aligns with a broader expansion of forestry activities across the state, driven by timber production and related industrial chains. Mayor Adriane Lopes noted that the expansion of silviculture presents new productive opportunities and economic development for the municipality.
While the area has grown, production values fluctuate due to the natural cycles of planting, growth, and harvesting. In 2024, the production value was R$ 267.01 million, primarily driven by log production, while 2025 saw a value of R$ 65.92 million alongside the production of 277,700 cubic meters of logs.
