Campo Grande Holds Second Arboviruses Workshop to Strengthen Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika Response
On July 7, the Municipal Health Secretariat of Campo Grande organized the second “Arboviroses em Foco” workshop at the Sebrae auditorium. The event gathered municipal health workers, researchers, managers and specialists to update clinical management of dengue, chikungunya and Zika, improve vector‑control strategies and enhance surveillance.
National experts participated, including Fiocruz infectious‑disease specialist Rivaldo Venâncio da Cunha and Ministry of Health arbovirus‑surveillance chief Daniel Garkauskas Ramos. They emphasized early preparation before the summer peak, the risk posed by the newly circulating dengue serotype 3 and the expanding chikungunya situation in Mato Grosso do Sul. The workshop also addressed the challenges of climate change, increased human mobility and simultaneous circulation of multiple arboviruses, aiming to equip local professionals with the knowledge to reduce complications, hospitalisations and deaths.
