Campo Grande launches fogging operation in four neighborhoods to curb Aedes mosquitoes

The Municipal Health Secretariat of Campo Grande will conduct an ultra‑low‑volume fogging (known locally as “fumacê”) on Friday, 10 May, targeting the neighborhoods of Centenário, Coronel Antonino, Lageado and Nova Lima. Teams from the Municipal Vector‑borne Disease Control Division will spray insecticide between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., and residents are asked to keep doors and windows open to allow the treatment to reach indoor mosquito habitats. The operation aims to reduce the population of Aedes aegypti, the vector responsible for dengue, Zika and chikungunya.

In parallel, Campo Grande’s health system is preparing for the upcoming high‑transmission summer season through a training workshop titled “Arboviroses em Foco.” Health professionals, managers and specialists received instruction on clinical management, surveillance and response strategies, emphasizing the importance of early preparation amid rising chikungunya cases and the re‑emergence of dengue serotype 3. Officials highlighted that continuous staff qualification is essential to mitigate the impact of arboviral outbreaks.
