Campo Grande teachers approve strike over 5.4% salary raise dispute

Around 300 teachers from the municipal school system in Campo Grande, Brazil, voted unanimously at an extraordinary assembly to suspend classes on Friday, 12, as a strike action.

The move follows the city hall’s refusal to implement the 5.4% salary increase stipulated in the 2025 "Piso 20h" agreement, citing financial infeasibility. Union president Gilvano Bronzoni said the protest is about “defending a collective conquest and the respect for commitments made with the public authorities.” The union plans a public demonstration, legal actions and intensified mobilization in schools ahead of the strike.
