Can Gio Bridge and Ben Thanh - Can Gio railway projects advance in Ho Chi Minh City

Construction is advancing on major infrastructure projects in Ho Chi Minh City, including the Can Gio Bridge and the Ben Thanh - Can Gio railway line.

For the Can Gio Bridge project, which spans the Soai Rap River, Masterise Can Gio Infrastructure Joint Stock Company is managing the development under a Build-Transfer (BT) public-private partnership model. The bridge component is approximately 3km long within a 7.3km total route, with an investment of roughly 10,668 billion VND. The project is currently undergoing technical design refinements and feasibility study appraisals to meet urgent implementation requirements.

Simultaneously, work has commenced on the foundations for the Ben Thanh - Can Gio railway. Equipment, including barges and drilling rigs, has been deployed to the Soai Rap River to begin drilling bored piles. This railway line, invested in by VinSpeed (a Vingroup subsidiary) with a total investment exceeding 102,000 billion VND, is designed to support speeds of up to 350km/h. The 54km line is part of a broader goal to establish 200km of metro lines in the city by 2030, with commercial operations for this segment expected by late 2028.
