Vietnam advances 5 billion USD Can Gio port and PTSC wins Qatar contract

Ho Chi Minh City is accelerating preparations for the Can Gio International Transshipment Port, a massive logistics project with an estimated investment of nearly 5 billion USD. The project, covering approximately 571 hectares, is expected to break ground in October 2026. The investment consortium includes Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), Saigon Port Joint Stock Company, and Terminal Investment Limited Holding, a member of the MSC group. Once fully developed, the port is designed to handle ultra-large container ships of 250,000 tons or more, with a long-term capacity target of 16.9 million TEUs by 2047.

In a separate major business development, Vietnam's PTSC (PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation) has been awarded the EPIC-1 package for the Maydan Mahzam Redevelopment project by QatarEnergy. While the exact contract value has not been officially released, analysts estimate the deal could be worth approximately 3 billion USD. The scope of work includes design, procurement, construction, and offshore installation for the Maydan Mahzam oil field cluster. The official contract signing is expected in October 2026.
