Can Tho begins 1.6 trillion VND Nguyen Van Cu road upgrade
Construction has officially commenced on the second phase of the Nguyen Van Cu extended road project in Can Tho, Vietnam. The project, stretching approximately 5.3 km from My Khanh market to Phong Dien, involves an investment of nearly 1,600 billion VND from the local budget.
The development aims to connect the central urban areas of Can Tho with the Phong Dien tourism region, fostering growth in commerce, services, and ecological tourism. The project scope includes building a new road section, upgrading the existing section to ensure a complete 34-meter wide cross-section with four motor lanes and two non-motorized lanes, and constructing five new bridges: Truong Tien, Ong De, Rach Ke, Rach Chuoi, and Tra Nien.
Scheduled for implementation between 2026 and 2029, the project is part of the city’s long-term urban planning to create a multi-centric development model. Officials noted that the completed infrastructure will enhance traffic capacity and support the city’s vision of becoming a modern, ecological urban area in the Mekong Delta.
