Can Tho police arrest man for 2.4 billion VND land fraud

Police in Can Tho have arrested 35-year-old Nguyen Thanh Trung for allegedly defrauding a victim of 2.4 billion VND through land-related scams. Trung, a resident of Dong Thap province, is facing charges of “fraudulent appropriation of property” and “using forged documents of agencies or organizations.”

According to investigators, Trung commissioned three forged land use right certificates in his name and used an invalid certificate that had previously been reported lost. He used these documents to conduct transactions involving four plots of land via authorization contracts with a victim, Mr. D. B. L. To gain trust, Trung reportedly led the victim to view vacant plots of land that he did not actually own, claiming them as his own property. After receiving the total sum of 2.4 billion VND, Trung fled the area. Authorities are continuing to investigate the case and have called for any other potential victims to contact the Can Tho Police.
