Land fraud investigations in Vietnam

Overview

Authorities in Vietnam have arrested multiple individuals in connection with significant land-related fraud schemes.

In An Giang province, police arrested 54-year-old Vũ Đình Quang for the fraudulent appropriation of property. Quang allegedly embezzled 17 billion VND by falsely promising to facilitate land use right certificates for state-managed forest land in the Phú Quốc area.

In a separate incident in Can Tho, police arrested 35-year-old Nguyen Thanh Trung for allegedly defrauding a victim of 2.4 billion VND. Trung is accused of using forged land use right certificates and invalid documents to conduct transactions for land plots he did not own. He reportedly fled after receiving the funds.
