Canada funds AI upskilling for energy sector and invests in multicultural marketing startup

The Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) launched the AI Pathways program to train up to 6,000 energy workers in artificial‑intelligence techniques. Backed by a $10.4 million federal grant through the Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program, the initiative offers a Foundations track for basic AI literacy and a Technical track for deploying machine‑learning solutions, with its first technical cohort of 190 professionals filled instantly.

Separately, the federal government announced a $557,500 investment in Toronto‑based Tulong Technologies. The funding, provided by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario under the Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative, will expand Tulong’s AI‑powered marketing platform that helps small and medium‑size businesses deliver content to diverse, multicultural audiences across North America. Both moves are part of Canada’s broader "AI for All" strategy to strengthen the national AI ecosystem and support economic growth.
