Canada Launches AI Transparency Public Consultation
The Government of Canada has opened a public consultation on artificial‑intelligence transparency, announced by Minister Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation. The consultation runs from 23 July to 23 September 2026 and seeks public input on measures to improve transparency of AI systems and AI‑generated content.
Key objectives include: detecting and identifying AI‑generated outputs; helping individuals recognize when they are interacting with an AI system; providing clear, consistent information about AI capabilities and limitations; enabling the tracking of serious AI‑related incidents; and developing ways to monitor AI agents’ activities and interactions. Responses will inform the next steps of Canada’s AI policy and its National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, “AI for All.”
