Canada Sends Major Trade Delegation to India to Advance $50 bn CEPA Goal

Canadian Minister Maninder Sidhu announced a "Team Canada" business delegation that will travel to India later this year. The mission is intended to accelerate the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations and help Canada triple its bilateral trade with India to about US$50 billion by 2030. Sidhu highlighted Canada’s aim to diversify exports beyond the United States, seeking to unlock roughly US$300 billion of additional non‑US trade. The delegation, described as the largest Canadian business mission to India, will focus on sectors such as sustainable energy, digital services, and manufacturing, targeting key Indian regions like Maharashtra and Karnataka. Joint remarks with Indian Union Minister Piyush Goyal underscored the growing momentum of the partnership and the strategic importance of supply‑chain diversification for both economies.
