Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal faces rain risk as drivers target organized sprint weekend

The Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix returns to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on Sunday, 24 June, after a three‑week break. This year the event includes a sprint race for the first time, meaning drivers will have only one free‑practice session before a 100 km sprint qualifying session.

Weather forecasts predict a 60 % chance of rain on race day, with temperatures around 17 °C and wind gusts up to 19 km/h, prompting teams to consider keeping wet‑tyre options ready. The preceding Friday and Saturday sessions are expected to be dry, with milder winds.

Audi driver Gabriel Bortoleto, currently 15th in the championship, said his aim is to improve on his Miami performance by staying organized and maximizing track time throughout the weekend. He highlighted familiarity with the Montreal circuit and the importance of comfort with the car from the start of the sprint weekend.
