Canary Islands appliance subsidy program enters second phase

The Canary Islands' Plan Renove de Electrodomésticos has completed its first phase with significant public participation. To date, 24,012 people have registered and 2,751 vouchers have been approved, totaling 449,770 euros. An additional 1,736 vouchers are pending resolution, representing another 436,980 euros in requested funds.

A second round of funding is scheduled for activation on October 1. The program will distribute the remaining portion of the 1.6 million euros allocated specifically for vouchers, with 800,000 euros earmarked for each province and distributed across the islands. The initiative is subsidized by the Government of the Canary Islands and managed by Femete and Femepa.

Vouchers range from 70 to 450 euros per appliance, depending on the type of device, its energy efficiency, and the consumer's economic situation. General consumers can receive discounts up to 250 euros, while vulnerable individuals may qualify for up to 450 euros. The program aims to support family economies, modernize the archipelago's appliance stock, and contribute to the region's energy transition and decarbonization goals.
