Canary Islands declares expiration of LP-2 road project consultations

The Government of the Canary Islands has declared the expiration of the public information and consultation procedures for the LP-2 road variant project between El Remo and La Zamora in Fuencaliente, La Palma.

The decision, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), follows a legal requirement stating that these procedures expire if the file is not submitted to the environmental body for an ordinary environmental impact assessment within one year of their conclusion. The public information period for this project ended on February 14, 2025.

This expiration does not mean the entire project has been canceled. However, the reports and allegations received during the previous period can no longer be used to proceed with the environmental evaluation. If the government decides to move forward with the road variant, it must repeat the public information and consultation processes using updated documentation.
