Canary Islands expands food and medicine aid in Venezuela

The Government of the Canary Islands has added 3,988 new beneficiaries to its food and medicine aid programs in Venezuela. This expansion follows earthquakes that struck the country in June.

Director General of Emigration José Téllez, accompanied by Government Delegate Dayana Morales, has already distributed 3,213 food cards and 2,543 medicine cards to 2,760 residents across several states, including Carabobo, Aragua, Yaracuy, Mérida, Guárico, Barinas, Portuguesa, and La Guaira. An additional 1,228 beneficiaries in Caracas and Anzoátegui are expected to receive cards soon.

The aid initiative, managed by the Directorate General of Emigration, originally received 8,539 applications. The program was reinforced after the Canary Islands government approved increased support to address the emergency caused by the seismic activity.
