Canary Islands Health Service stabilizes over 9,000 medical positions
The Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) has completed its largest-ever workforce stabilization process, securing more than 9,000 positions through merit-based competition. This initiative, which covers 122 professional categories, aims to reduce temporary employment in the public sector in accordance with Law 20/2021.
Key positions stabilized through merits include 2,059 nursing roles, 2,204 nursing assistants, 1,046 physicians, 675 family doctors, and 1,123 administrative assistants. When combined with the ongoing competitive examination phase, which involves 1,585 positions across 110 categories, the total number of stabilized roles reaches approximately 12,000.
Health Minister Esther Monzón reported the conclusion of the process to the Government Council, noting that the final categories to be processed were nursing assistants and administrative assistants. The massive undertaking involved 112 different tribunals and the Directorate General of Human Resources of the SCS.
