Canary Islands Health Service urges regular blood donations
The Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) is urging the public to donate blood regularly, noting that donations typically decrease during the summer months while hospital needs remain stable or increase. Because blood components cannot be manufactured, voluntary and altruistic donations are the only way to ensure availability for patients with complex medical needs.
To facilitate participation, the Directorate General of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy is deploying a network of mobile extraction units across various municipalities in the archipelago. In addition to these mobile units, fixed donation points at several hospitals will remain operational, including the Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín, Hospital Universitario Insular, and the Hospital Universitario de Canarias.
