Canary Islands weather sees temperature drop and relief from heat
The Canary Islands are experiencing a slight reprieve from extreme heat, with temperatures in Tenerife expected to drop below 30 degrees Celsius. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), maximum temperatures will likely oscillate between 22 and 29 degrees. While light haze (calima) has been present in the midlands and mountain summits, it is expected to subside, replaced by moderate northeast winds.
Cloud cover may increase in the interior regions during the afternoon, potentially bringing light, occasional rainfall. While most of the archipelago will see milder conditions, some southeastern areas of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria may still reach 30 degrees.
Regarding fire safety, the regional government has deactivated the forest fire risk alert for Gran Canaria. However, a pre-alert for fire risk remains in effect for the western islands and Gran Canaria.
