Cancer prevention initiatives launch in Mayotte and Le Pouliguen

Health professionals in Mayotte are implementing a mobile outreach strategy to improve cancer screening rates among women. By utilizing local community gatherings known as 'manzaraka'—gatherings often centered around weddings—health workers are able to reach populations that may otherwise avoid traditional medical settings. These initiatives include information booths in Mamoudzou focused on family planning and screening for breast and cervical cancers.

In Le Pouliguen, local authorities are mobilizing for the 'Octobre Rose' campaign to support breast cancer research and early detection. In partnership with the Institut de Cancérologie de l’Ouest and the Ligue contre le cancer, the town is organizing various sporting events, including cycling, walking, and running circuits. Funds raised from these activities are intended to help finance a genetic platform dedicated to identifying hereditary mutations related to certain cancers.
