Cancún Animal Welfare Hospital reaches 80% completion

The construction of the Animal Welfare Hospital in Cancún has reached approximately 80 percent completion in its first stage. Eight months after construction began, officials from the Ayuntamiento de Benito Juárez conducted a site inspection to monitor progress.

The facility is designed to provide specialized care for both domestic and wild animals, specifically targeting those affected by abandonment or abuse. The first phase of the project includes a main building and a service building, which will house emergency consultation rooms, sterilization operating rooms, observation areas, maternity wards, imaging services, and laboratories.

Beyond medical services, the hospital aims to serve as a center for community education and prevention. Planned initiatives include promoting responsible adoption, sterilization programs, and the reporting of animal cruelty, as well as the conservation of local wildlife.
