Animal welfare hospital construction in Cancún

Overview

The construction of the Animal Welfare Hospital in Cancún has reached approximately 80 percent completion in its first stage. Eight months after work began, officials from the Ayuntamiento de Benito Juárez inspected the site.

The facility is designed to provide specialized care for domestic and wild animals, particularly those affected by abuse or abandonment. The first phase includes a main building and a service building containing emergency consultation rooms, sterilization operating rooms, maternity wards, observation areas, imaging services, and laboratories.

In addition to medical services, the hospital is intended to function as a center for community education and prevention, focusing on responsible adoption, sterilization programs, wildlife conservation, and the reporting of animal cruelty.
