Mexico authorities conduct raids targeting drugs and human trafficking

Authorities in Mexico have conducted several operations targeting drug trafficking and human exploitation. In Benito Juárez, inter-institutional forces carried out two raids, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of marijuana and cocaine.

In Cancún, a coordinated raid on a local bar led to the rescue of six women, including five Mexican nationals and one Guatemalan national, suspected victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation. Investigators noted the victims were targeted due to vulnerabilities such as being single mothers with limited education. During the operation, authorities seized various substances and items including cell phones and notebooks.

Data from the National Public Security System indicates that Quintana Roo accounts for approximately 47.9% of human trafficking cases in Mexico, with 159 cases reported in the first eight months of 2026.
