Cancún launches first MOBI urban transit route

Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has announced the launch of Route 17 Leona Vicario, the first urban route of the Quintana Roo Welfare Mobility System (MOBI) in Cancún. To mark the commencement of operations, the service will be free of charge from October 19 to October 26.

Following the free period, electronic payments will be implemented starting October 27. The system will feature transfer discounts, allowing users to make up to three boardings within a three-hour window. For the general fare, the first trip will cost 15 pesos, the first transfer 7.50 pesos, and the second transfer will be free. Students and seniors with social tariffs will receive reduced rates, while individuals with permanent disabilities will continue to travel free of charge.

The 44.05-kilometer route is expected to serve 99 neighborhoods and benefit approximately 242,821 people, connecting northern areas of the city with educational, commercial, and service centers.
