Candidates announce runs for Fraser-Cascade School Board

Candidates have begun filing for upcoming school board trustee positions in the Fraser-Cascade School District (SD78). Benita Hatt has announced her candidacy, citing her involvement with Scouts Canada and her desire to support the next generation of students.

Incumbent Pascale Shaw, who has served on the board since 2018, is also seeking re-election. Shaw, a former education assistant and early childhood educator, highlighted concerns regarding the public education system, specifically noting the strain placed on underfunded districts by the increasing number of neurodivergent students entering the system without formal diagnoses.
