Two candidates have announced their runs for school board trustee positions in British Columbia.
In Chilliwack, Hayden Rampton has released a platform focused on academic excellence, literacy, and numeracy. Rampton, a student at the University of the Fraser Valley, aims to prioritize student learning, support teachers with necessary resources, and increase parental involvement in educational decision-making.
In the Kamloops-Thompson school district (SD73), longtime educator Troylana Manson has entered the trustee race. Manson, who has over 25 years of experience in rural and urban education, intends to advocate for students and families by improving access to mental health, wellbeing, inclusion, and classroom safety supports. She emphasized a commitment to evidence-based decision-making and incorporating the expertise of educators and administrators into board governance.
