Moaña hosts 28th Mussel Festival with 5 tonnes of seafood

The 28th edition of the Festa do Mexillón in Moaña (province of Pontevedra) opened on 2 August, offering five tonnes of mussels. Prices ranged from €5 for a simple preparation to €8 for more elaborate tapas, and the event featured live music by the Banda de Música Airiños do Morrazo and an exhibition of local women’s crafts.

In Castellón, mayor Begoña Carrasco attended a traditional dinner for the Marjalería neighbourhood, where about 350 residents shared sardines and musical performances. Carrasco said, "Esta cena se ha convertido en un punto de encuentro y de unión para los vecinos y vecinas de la Marjalería."

Monesterio held its annual Guarrito competition despite a heat wave. The peña ‘Kale Bellota’ won the top prize, presented by mayor Loli Vargas. Around twenty groups participated, showcasing the town’s culinary heritage.
