Cangas City Council accused of irregular spending by PP

The People's Party (PP) has accused the Cangas City Council of financial irregularities, claiming that 60 percent of the euros spent in 2025 were paid despite unfavorable technical reports. According to the opposition, the local government systematically used decrees to bypass municipal technical warnings, resulting in 11.6 million euros being paid through 184 instances of lifting objections.

The PP alleges that the municipal management is overwhelmed and characterized by irregularity. They specifically highlighted that over 7.3 million euros were paid under technical objections within the personnel department, citing an absence of a formal job structure and the use of temporary contracts for permanent roles. Additionally, 3.9 million euros were allocated for daily purchases and services using expired contracts or projects lacking technical documentation. The opposition also criticized the distribution of 432,000 euros in municipal aid, describing it as being granted without a prior strategic plan.
