Canon announces EOS R8 Mark II mirrorless camera
Canon has officially announced the EOS R8 Mark II, a compact full-frame mirrorless camera designed for enthusiasts and content creators. A major upgrade from the original EOS R8 is the inclusion of a 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) system, which offers up to 7.5 stops of shake correction when paired with compatible lenses.
The camera features a 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and the DIGIC X processor. Key performance specifications include an electronic shutter capable of up to 40 fps continuous shooting and a pre-continuous shooting mode that captures up to 20 frames before the shutter is fully pressed. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system utilizes deep learning for improved subject tracking of people, animals, and vehicles, including a “Register People Priority” feature.
For video, the EOS R8 Mark II supports uncropped 4K resolution at 60p (oversampled from 6K) and Full HD at up to 180p. It also includes professional-grade tools such as Canon Log 3 and custom LUT support. The redesigned body features a more angular, retro-inspired aesthetic and includes a new multi-controller joystick for easier autofocus point selection. The device weighs approximately 546 grams with the battery and memory card included.
