Cantemir–Fălciu railway crossing sees no traffic since April inauguration

More than four months after its inauguration on April 22, the Cantemir–Fălciu railway crossing, intended as a strategic connection between Moldova and Romania, remains unused. Reports from the site indicate that no freight or passenger trains have crossed the border via this route since its opening.

Field observations show significant neglect of the infrastructure, including rusted rails and overgrown vegetation between sleepers. This lack of activity stands in contrast to the urgent need for alternative grain transport routes. While other routes, such as Volcinețk–Bălți–Ungheni, have been facilitating the movement of approximately 35,000 tons of grain monthly toward the port of Constanța, the Cantemir–Fălciu link remains inactive.
