Canyon and Honda announce new high-performance e-MTB developments

Major manufacturers are expanding into the high-performance electric mountain bike (e-MTB) market. Canyon has officially announced the Spectral:ON CF, its first production e-MTB featuring the Avinox motor system. The bike utilizes the Avinox M2S motor, which provides up to 150 Nm of torque and 1,500 W of peak power, paired with a 700 Wh FP700 battery. The new model features a redesigned frame, revised kinematics, and updated geometry, with weights starting from 20.8 kg.

Simultaneously, Honda has unveiled a high-end e-MTB prototype at the Sea Otter Europe event in Girona. While specific technical details such as battery capacity and exact power output have not yet been released, the project is being developed in collaboration with trial rider Toni Bou. Honda aims to create a product that blends motorcycle sensations with off-road cycling, with a production launch expected in 2027.
