Capcom aims to make Monster Hunter Wilds its best‑selling game
Capcom is targeting its newest title, Monster Hunter Wilds, to become the company’s top‑selling game, overtaking the 30 million‑unit record set by Monster Hunter World. The game launched in February 2025 and sold more than eight million copies in its first three days, but sales have since plateaued around 11‑12 million units.
In its Q1 fiscal‑year 2026 report, Capcom said recent technical improvements for the PC version, price reductions and the announcement of a major expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, have begun to lift sales. The expansion, slated for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and a possible port to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, are expected to drive further growth.
Capcom’s investors were told the company will continue to enhance performance and add content to push total unit sales beyond those of Monster Hunter World over the medium to long term.
