Overview

Capcom continued to refine Monster Hunter Wilds through July–August 2026. A 3.5 GB Patch 1.042.00.00 (4 August) removed the online-only requirement for all 25 Event and Challenge Quests, reordered the quest menu for offline play, and added direct progress transfer from the Prolog demo, alongside visual, audio and performance fixes for NVIDIA DLSS and AMD Radeon drivers. On 5 August, the free Prologue demo (Chapters 1–3) launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, offering full character creation, all 14 weapon types and save-data transfer to the full game. The expansion follows the Forbidden Lands Expedition Team as they construct the Madoi Stronghold to prepare for the return of the Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung. On 8 September, new gameplay trailers detailed specific Boost Bracer mechanics for Sword & Shield, Hammer, and Light Bowgun users. During a Nintendo Direct on 9 September, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on 4 December 2026. This version will support handheld, table, and TV modes, local wireless co-op for up to four players, and full online cross-play.
