Capcom's Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen adds 25+ hours of new content

Capcom announced that the Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion will launch on 9 October 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The add‑on introduces a brand‑new snowy northern region called Norgan, which the developers say will take roughly 15–20 hours to complete. In addition, 12 distinct dungeons – each about 30‑60 minutes long – are being added to the base game, pushing total new gameplay time beyond 25 hours.

Producer Naoto Oyama explained that the project began after roughly six months of post‑launch updates and two years of development, driven largely by player feedback requesting more story, enemies and exploration. The team chose to reuse the “Dark Arisen” subtitle after finalising the content, noting its narrative relevance and recognisability. The expansion is aimed at players around level 40 for the Norgan campaign, while the new dungeons are accessible from level 20. Capcom is also considering a hard‑mode option for veteran players.

Technical improvements are being rolled out across all platforms, with the Switch 2 version surpassing expectations – a minimum 30 fps frame rate and higher in many scenes, thanks to optimisations of Capcom’s RE engine. These performance updates are scheduled for a late‑August patch. Overall, the DLC is positioned as a substantial update rather than a simple add‑on, intended to restore confidence after the original launch’s performance issues.
