Capcom announces Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion with Hard Mode and performance upgrades

Capcom revealed details of the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion, slated for release on 9 October 2026. The DLC will add a new snowy region called Norgan, additional dungeons, and new story areas titled Forsaken Dominion and Lost Rites. Gameplay changes include a Hard Mode aimed at players who have reached or are near the stat cap, while difficulty in Normal Mode will still scale gradually through the new content.

Technical enhancements accompany the expansion: a performance update will enable 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X via a Performance Mode, and PC system requirements will be refreshed. The update also adds extra save slots for better play‑through management. Weapon skill sets will increase from four to six, and the base game will receive a separate update in August. The expansion and the base game will launch simultaneously on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Capcom’s director Kento Kinoshita and producer Naoto Oyama discussed the new features in a recent Steam Q&A, emphasizing that Hard Mode is intended to provide a “satisfying challenge” for seasoned players rather than a punitive experience.
