Capcom announces Mega Man: Dual Override for 2027

Capcom has announced 'Mega Man: Dual Override', the twelfth installment in the classic Mega Man series, scheduled for release in 2027. This marks the first major new entry in the franchise in approximately eight years.

In interviews with the development team, including Producer Shingo Izumi, the decision to omit a numerical title was explained as an effort to lower the barrier for new players. The game introduces new mechanics such as the 'Override' system, which enhances the player's abilities and charge shots, and 'Custom Chips,' which allow for gameplay customization through passive and active effects.

The development team also highlighted a shift in character design, noting the inclusion of Twinkle Girl, only the second female robot boss in the series' history. Producers stated this reflects a desire for greater character diversity and design variety in the modern era.
