Capcom announces Monster Hunter Wilds demo for Nintendo Switch 2

Capcom has announced that a free “Prologue Demo” for Monster Hunter Wilds will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2. Depending on the region, the demo is scheduled to become available on October 19 or October 20, 2026.

The demo allows players to experience the beginning of the story, covering content up to Chapter 1-3, “To the Forest.” It includes full character and Palico creation, as well as access to all 14 weapon types. Notably, the demo supports local multiplayer, allowing players to hunt with friends on nearby consoles, though online multiplayer is not available in this version.

Progress made during the demo can be carried over to the full game. Digital pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 version are set to begin alongside the demo release. The full version of Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026. A major expansion titled “Ascendance” is planned for 2027.
