Capcom announces Onimusha: Way of the Sword for 2026 release on multiple platforms

Capcom revealed that the new entry in the Onimusha series, **Onimusha: Way of the Sword**, will launch on 25 September 2026. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and, following a Nintendo Direct on 9 June, also for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, which will feature exclusive Joy‑Con controls.

Set in an Edo‑era Kyoto under siege by demonic Genma, players will control a re‑imagined Miyamoto Musashi who wields the mystical Oni gauntlet. The developers highlighted a modernised combat system with precise timing, dynamic dismemberment and on‑the‑fly soul absorption. Production was delayed for years until Capcom could allocate a dedicated team and apply its RE Engine, previously used for Resident Evil, to the project.
