Capcom Announces Onimusha: Way of the Sword Release for September 2026

Capcom confirmed that the next entry in the Onimusha series, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, will launch on 4 September 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The game returns after a 20‑year gap and is built around a pure, precise sword‑play system, with the studio deliberately omitting extra mechanics to let players feel the weight of steel.

Producer Akihito Kadowaki said the team added modular difficulty settings so newcomers can jump in and enjoy the action, aiming to reach a broad global audience. A demo released on 3 June 2026 let players fight the demon Sasaki Ganryu in a dark, Edo‑era Kyoto, and early community feedback has been positive. Capcom worked with historical consultants to recreate landmarks such as Kiyomizu‑dera and to integrate the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as the protagonist.
