Capcom announces Onimusha: Way of the Sword release with new combat system and PC benchmark

Capcom revealed that its upcoming action‑RPG Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on 4 September 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The showcase at Summer Game Fest highlighted an expanded combat system called Issen Break, allowing targeted counter‑attacks that harvest different soul types, and introduced new weapons such as the Oni Bow, Oni Gauntlet and Wind‑Blade. Set in an open‑neighbourhood version of Edo‑period Kyoto, the game features new Genma enemies, boss battles and side missions.

For PC players, Capcom also released a free benchmark tool on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The utility runs several in‑game scenes, records frame rates and provides a score ranging from "Insufficient" to "Excellent" to help users gauge whether their hardware meets the game's performance needs. Capcom notes that benchmark results are indicative and may not reflect the final game's behavior.
