Capcom moves Onimusha launch forward as developers reveal fake game loading bars
Capcom announced that the action‑adventure Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on September 4, 2024, three weeks earlier than the originally planned September 25 release. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, and the company offered no specific reason for the schedule change, noting it avoids competition with other titles.
Separately, a number of game developers have publicly admitted that loading bars in video games are often deliberately inaccurate. Rami Ismail said, “I don’t think I ever programmed a correct loading bar.” Raúl Munárriz of Tequila Works added, “Realistic loading bars scare people.” Mike Bithell explained, “Players wouldn’t trust a ‘smooth’ loading bar,” noting that artificial pauses are inserted to reassure players. The disclosures came after a British comedian highlighted irregular loading‑screen behaviour, prompting broader industry discussion.
