Capcom moves Onimusha: Way of the Sword release to Sept 4 2026

Capcom announced that the long‑awaited sequel Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on 4 September 2026, three weeks earlier than the originally scheduled 25 September date. The launch will be simultaneous on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store). A free demo is already available on all platforms, and players who keep their demo save data will receive the Kubi Akari amulet in the full game.

Pre‑order bonuses have been rebranded as “Early‑Adopter” rewards and are available until 24 September (25 September for PC). Bonuses include a lion‑dog talisman, special sword skins and other cosmetic items for Standard, Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions. Digital pre‑orders for Switch 2 will be automatically cancelled and must be placed again after the new window opens.

The shift aims to avoid a congested September launch period that features titles such as Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall and the anticipated GTA 6, giving the title a clearer market window. The game marks the first mainline Onimusha entry in more than 20 years, set in Edo‑era Kyoto and starring Miyamoto Musashi armed with a mystical Oni Gauntlet.
