Capcom moves Onimusha: Way of the Sword release to September 4, 2026

Capcom has announced that its upcoming action-adventure title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, has surpassed 2 million wishlists across all platforms. This milestone comes ahead of its revised release date of September 4, 2026.

To avoid heavy competition from other major titles scheduled for late September, such as Silent Hill: Townfall and Control Resonant, Capcom moved the release date forward from September 25. The game marks the first mainline entry in the Onimusha series in 20 years and is being presented as a soft reboot.

Set in Edo-period Kyoto, the gameplay features third-person swordplay, including parries and counterattacks, and includes elements like the Oni Gauntlet and soul absorption. The title will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. A playable build is expected to be available at Gamescom 2026.
