Capcom releases Monster Hunter Wilds demo for Nintendo Switch 2

Capcom has released a free Prologue Demo for Monster Hunter Wilds on the Nintendo Switch 2. The demo allows players to experience the game's opening chapters, including a detailed character and Palico editor, and features combat in the Windward Plains. A key feature of this release is the ability to transfer save data from the demo to the full game.

Technical analysis by Digital Foundry indicates that the Switch 2 version is highly optimized, utilizing NVIDIA DLSS to maintain stable performance. In docked mode, the game offers a quality mode at 30 FPS with a 648p internal resolution and a performance mode that targets between 40 and 55 FPS. Notably, the Switch 2 version demonstrates sharper textures and screen-space reflections in certain scenarios compared to the Xbox Series S version, despite lower overall geometric complexity and simplified distant animations.

The full version of Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026. Digital pre-orders are currently available on the Nintendo eShop, offering exclusive bonuses such as the Guild Knight Set and Hope Charm for those who reserve the game by early December.
